Merry Christmas!

i would like to take this opportunity to greet everyone a merry christmas! may this be a day of thanksgiving and sharing. most of us filipinos are very excited for this day. some of us are using this time as a day of reunion among family members. this is what excites us most, to see our relatives. most of us are anticipating for gifts but we'll just think that it's better to give than to receive. we just dont anticipate giving material things but also things which are priceless like love, acceptance and respect. and dont forget that this day was created as a celebration of the birth of a child who saved us all, JESUS CHRIST! God Bless us all

alarm clock

Start of the 9 mornings!

i barely had a sleep last night... im so excited to attend the first mass of the 9 mornings! as usual, the church was filled with people. Some of them came as early as 2:30 am and stayed there until the mass will start... and guess what it started at around 4:30( bwahahaha! just imagine the long wait)... it was so tiring though, i stood up since the mass began until it ended (whew!)---> just becuase i cant find any seat <--- what a sacrifice! they say that once you would be able to finish the 9 mornings, your wish or your intention for it would be granted. i don't know if it's true but nevertheless, my wish was all for the goodness my family! God Bless.

The Spirit of Sharing this Christmas

what keeps me busy during the later part of this day? i have been strolling along one of the busiest streets here i davao looking for things that i may give as presents this christmas. as much as possible i want to give something to all my relatives that's why im very picky and is looking for quality yet cheap things. i was really not diappointed because i was able to find little stuffs in a very affordable price. i am so excited to see the reactions of my love ones once they open it this christmas eve.

it has been a habit among family members to give gifts during christmas. as much as possible we wanted to give all our relatives. before we buy gifts for them, we usually think if they would like or not. but mind you, whatever it is, the mere act that it is given, they would accept and appreciate it wholeheartedly. whatever these gifts may be, its price don't really matter as long as it's heartily given.

when you say chritmas present, it is really something that is being wrapped or in other words a material thing. but these presents may not only mean material things but also those things in which money can't buy like FORGIVENESS, ACCEPTANCE and LOVE. it has been said that "it is better to give than to receive". this christmas, once in our life, let's make other people happy by sharing to them, not only material things but also those things which are priceless.

Defense Mechanism

Life has been very stressful these past few days to most of the people. Various forms of problems are arising. It may be about money, family and even breakups. These things usually produce stress in our lives. If we don’t know how to deal with these things, there may come a time that we would really give up and worse comes to worst, we going to finish our own life or commit suicide.
We may not be aware of it but there exist a thing in our life that most often prevent the worst thing mentioned above. We call them defense mechanisms. These things would allow us to keep our composure and face the problem courageously. Most of the common doesn’t know it but it really exists. You may be surprised upon reading the following and may somehow tell yourself that you can relate to it or even say that you are doing it.
These defense mechanisms come in two types, the healthy and unhealthy. The healthy ones has been used to compensate what we don’t have in moralistic and acceptable manner. However, the unhealthy one most often lead a person to be out of reality which would eventually lead to a mental disorder.

Healthy

Sublimation - healthy redirection of an emotion.
Example: Instead of punching your boss when angry with him, you go to
the gym and punch a punching bag.

Turning the painful loss of a child into a campaign to increase
child safety laws
Compensation - a defense mechanism that conceals your undesirable shortcomings by
exaggerating desirable behaviors.
Example: a physically unattractive adolescent becomes an expert dancer.

Substitution - the individual secures alternative or substitutive gratification comparable to
those that would have been employed

Example: a student who originally wanted to be a physician decides to become a
nurse instead because of lack of money.

Unhealthy

Denial - Failing to recognize obvious implications or consequences of a thought, act, or
situation
Example: A disabled person plans to return to former activities without planning a
realistic program of rehabilitation.

Persons living near a volcano disregard the dangers involved.

Displacement - shifting the emotional component from one object or idea to another
Example: a man reprimanded by his boss in the office gets home very angry to his
households instead.

Introjection- blaming oneself for wrong things happened.

Projection- blaming other for wrong things happened.

Reaction Formation – hiding the true feeling felt.
Example: You are very friendly to your boss whom you gossip having bad
attitude to your co-workers a while ago.

Suppression – you consciously forgets a thing
Example: You don’t want to talk about your problems at home until you finish
your work.

Repression – unconscious forgetting
Example - you were able to forget the name of your ex-boyfriend who hurt you
so much.
